Animus Bringer

Animus Bringer.

Those with a strong soul have a huge impact in the realms of existence. Such an impact, that is able to establish a link between the multiverse, able to bring forth a material projection of the connected creature, formed by the user's own soul force.
Those that can materialize otherworldly characters out of their soul force, are the Bringers. The creatures materialized are not summoned. Those are the manifestations of the user's spirit, with their unique strengths and weaknesses, the Animus comes to battle alongside their ''wielders'', the Bringers. Those that are capable of conjuring those Spirits or Gods, are the select few that can attain this prestige class, the “Bringers”.
It is said that a Bringer, draws forth the power of Gods that reside in other dimensions. Perhaps that is true. Perhaps they are from the past or future, perhaps , they are of today.

New Special Moves & Fighting styles

Introducing two new, European-flavoured fighting styles and a specific chain of Special Moves for Melee.

Melee Special Moves

A well-executed counterstrike. @http://butteredanime.wordpress.com
4th level: Counterstrike, 1 RP
If you succeed at a Parry that used up one of your AP (a reserved Defensive Action), you may immediately make an attack against the original attacker. Do not roll dice. You are considered to have one success at your attack roll.

5th level: Advanced Counterstrike, 1 RP
If you succeed at a Parry that used up one of your AP (a reserved Defensive Action), you may immediately make an attack against the original attacker. Do not roll dice. Your attack roll's successes are equal to the number of successes your parry roll exceeded your opponent's attack roll by.

6th level: Expert Counterstrike, 1 WP, 1 RP
If you succeed at a Parry that used up one of your AP (a reserved Defensive Action), you may immediately make an attack against the original attacker. Do not roll dice. Your attack roll's successes are equal to double the number of successes your parry roll exceeded your opponent's attack roll by.

7th level: Master Counterstrike, 2 WP, 1 RP
If you succeed at a Parry that used up one of your AP (a reserved Defensive Action), you may immediately make an attack against the original attacker. Do not roll dice. Your attack roll's successes are equal to triple the number of successes your parry roll exceeded your opponent's attack roll by.

8th level: Grandmaster Counterstrike, 5 WP, 1 RP
If you succeed at a Parry that used up one of your AP (a reserved Defensive Action), you may immediately make an attack against the original attacker. Do not roll dice. Your attack roll's successes are equal to five times the number of successes your parry roll exceeded your opponent's attack roll by.

8th level: Focused strike, 2 WP, -
While in the duelist stance, you may spend 2 Willpower points for a single attack at your opponent or parry against his attacks; that roll has a number of automatic successes equal to your Concentration rating.

Fighting Styles

Duelist Fighting Style, Dexterity 5, Perception 5, Wits 3, Melee 5
You are trained to fight duels and one-on-one combat, focusing on one opponent at the exclusion of the others. When you enter your duelist stance, you are formidable, but suffer from any attacks from other opponents. It does not matter what weapon you use while dueling- it's the focus that is important.
Duelist Girls. @http://wallpaperscraft.com/

Rank 1: While in the duelist stance designate one opponent at the beginning of your round. Attacks against him, and parries from his attacks, have -1 DC. At concentration 4, the DC is -2, at rank 7 it is -3 and at rank 10 it is -4. Any other opponent also benefits from this DC reduction against you.

Rank 2: While in the duelist stance, you may now also add your Concentration as dice to your damage rolls against your designated opponent.

Longsword Fighting Style, Strength 4, Dexterity 4, Melee 5

The art of fighting with a two-handed, double-edged sword is one of balance and symmetry, as you use both hands and the entire body. This fighting style can only be used with bastard swords and longswords held in two hands.

Rank 1: The best offense is defense. While wielding the sword, you may choose to fight from a defensive guard. You may choose a number from one, up to half your Melee ranks, round down.
Longsword position (posta) @http://wall.alphacoders.com

Rank 2: The best defense is offense. You may use a Counterstrike special move regardless of the way you parried (reserved Defensive action, reflexive parry, sorcery technique, Weapon master free parry etc).

Rank 3: You have learned the master strikes- you blend offense and defense seamlessly. When you successfully attack an opponent, you are harder to hit due to the stance. +2 Dc to be hit (max total Dc to be hit always 10) until the end of turn.

Special Edition of Nemesis Worlds

I must say i had the luck of being the collaborator of an excellent book craftsman whose talents are extremely remarkable. She made the special edition of Nemesis Worlds happen. The book evolved to a handmade masterpiece of, thick - hard cover, black leather, with silver stamp of the logo engraved deeply to it's surface. A crimson bookmark makes it easier to designate the important page the reader chose to leave it at. Red and black fabric that ties the pages together along with the reinforced by the thread, glue that does not appear at all. The cost of those 4 masterpieces was pretty high but if it was not for a mutual friendship it would be even more. My partner will be back at September so until then be patient for the special editions. Now I am going to let the Pictures describe the work done there...

Excuses excuses...

Sorry guys for not posting recently but I've been working a lot lately. I was also busy with handling the Special Edition of the Nemesis Worlds book, which I will show you guys when it comes to my hands. I am very proud for this project as it is mostly a handmade edition with black leather and silver stamps, fashioned by hand, of a very skillful collaborator who I will promote when her job is finished. The order of the Special Edition was of four (4) pieces. Requests for more special editions will be accepted after the summer perhaps but this work is limited (and expensive... even for me to own one :P). Next post will be a detailed photo view of the Special Edition and opinions of the new owners of those masterpieces of handicraft. Take care!

The 7 Sons of the Phoenix

Pyraurix, the Golden Phoenix.
Anonymous concept art
Throughout the ages, the great elemental of Holyflame known as Pyrgatharix, son of the Grand Elemental Phoenix, has sired a relatively small number of children, all of them sons, and all but the last of them was born while he was still roaming free. This small bloodline is spread across the eons, mostly keeping to itself, with the first six sons keeping distant but cordial relations to one another, a formidable task considering the gulf of time separating each one's birth and the simple fact they all come from different mothers. Yet they all have in common their powerful and wise father, and their considerable innate talents at sorcery, manipulating their essence and their personal reservoir of Holyflame to impressive effect.

All this changed when Pyrgatharix was imprisoned.

It might be true that he remains upon Chalkinon in some semblance of good will, not trying to escape or organize a break out. It might be true that his wisdom has benefited Jacob and his followers tremendously. It might be true that their own father does not admit he is a captive, putting up the charade of an honored guest and advisor.

But the Sons of the Phoenix do not forget, and they might as well not forgive.

While they are not hostile to the Order of the Phoenix, considering their common nature (of sorts) and goal, especially since their father has expressly forbidden them from acting directly against the Order of the Phoenix (since he knows that no matter their personal or even combined power, it would be a foolish attempt to pit it against the might of the Order and Jacob himself), they do abhor their practices, at least secretly. Both the aberrant manipulation of holyflame through their magic, and the cursed collar the founder of the Order puts on his "Knights" that masquerades as a powerful sword, grate against their ethics and mentality. They do however remain occasional allies of the Order when necessary to bring their might for support of the Order's cause, usually at the insistence of their father when he deems a cause worthy, and their frosty relationship was somewhat warmed when the Order withdrew all claim from Pyrgatharix's youngest son with one of the Order's Knights, and instead extended a permanent invitation for all of them to visit their father and stay as honored guests (this time more in spirit than in letter) aboard the Chalkinon. It was an attempt to both calm the heated tempers of the Half-Elementals and lure them to join the Order, though so far only the first has worked.

Pyrtavix, the Shadow Phoenix. Image Source: Rueme@deviantart

The 7 Sons of the Phoenix are not a true organization, but a close-knit family that stays together not only because of blood relations but also because of a common goal- eventually freeing their father from the grasp of the Order, whether through force or diplomacy. There are seven sons of the Phoenix, at least currently, each one, upon acknowledgement by his father, accepting the honorific prefix of Pyr in their name, and each one decided upon a title that best describes both his appearance and his nature.

In a descending order of age, they are:
  • Pyraurix, the Golden Phoenix, eldest of the seven, wisest, and closest to his father.
  • Pyrassix, the Jade Phoenix, scholar and scientist of the highest caliber.
  • Pyrferrix, The Iron Phoenix, warrior and swordsman without peer.
  • Pyrterrix, The Granite Phoenix, builder and protector.
  • Pyranthrix, the Black Phoenix, a wanderer dark in colour and light in mood.
  • Pyrtavix, the Shadow Phoenix, trickster, spy and rogue.
  • Pyrolix, the Silver Phoenix, the one born in captivity.

All the Sons are Half Elementals of Holyflame, courtesy of their common father, Pyrgatharix. All are also Sorcerers of Holyflame, as each one was taught by his brothers as well as their father, the finest points of the art of sorcery as well as exploring each one's talents and inclinations, from war to science and anything inbetween.

Demon Prince Alvarech & The Tower Of Babel

The Tower Of Babel.
The tallest tower of Hell, second only to Pandemonium which is the tower of the Pure One. It is a tower consisted of 66 levels, where each level on the outside resembles an enormous floor but in the inside it is a Dreamworld crafted by Alvarech himself, making him the lord of 66 dimensions which are deeply connected with Hell. Tower of Babel originates from the actual tower made on earth, which God has stroke, sending it directly in Hell, which made the foundation stone of the Demonic Prince's tower. Alvarech's throne lies on the final floor which has no walls, only the pillars that hold the roof. From there Alvarech sees all of Hell, and with his wings spread, he covers his city, Babel, the second biggest Demonic city of Hell.

1st Of The Demon Princes
Alvarech, The Winged One.
The First of the Demon Princes. The Keeper of the Skies. Commander of 666 legions named The Exalted Legions. He commands powerful archdemons such as Dantalion the Duke of Xaod, Astaroth the Grand Duke of Astaria, the Marquis Amon and Murmur as well as the High General Forneus the Undefeated and his Legion the Darkwing, the leading force of the Exalted Legions.
Concept Art for Nemesis Worlds. Artist Σωτήρης Μπάκας (aka Zorel)
Alvarech's primal sin, is Pride and his strongest demonic power lies in his Wings. Alvarech is called the Winged One because his wings could become as wide as his whole city, which easily equals the size of a continent. When he flies, the winds of Hell scream violently and the clouds subside or form terrible tornadoes. He prefers to stay in Apocalyptic form, having his wings in normal analogy with the angelic body of his. He is pale and his hair are black like the color of a crow, covering the teenage face of a man he was gifted with. At the base of his throne, lies Doom, his weapon, which is said to be the previous Lord of Hellfire, forged in a double edged greatsword, able to adjust it's size to it's wielder's and potentially shoot out darkflame with force that equals to the power of a fallen Prince. Alvarech even when fighting, has no visible armor donned (though his armor packs have no penalties) and uses no other artifact, other than his Memory Stone, which he has planted next to his heart. He always fights in his Demon Form, without having the full extend of his demonic powers unleashed and specially his wings. In his Demon form, his slim figure is pitch black of a 3 meters demon, who has two horns in the shape of a ram. His face as if wearing a mask that has a lip-less closed maw of sharp fangs, extended from the place where his ears where supposed to be and only when in fury does the maw open, showing that it is his true visage. He has a pair of dark eyes glowing from the eye sockets, that pierces the will with their gaze. His size is controlled to that amount but his armor packs are enough to absorb the damage dealt by a legion of Pit Fiends. He is agile and strong and when facing an opponent of equal or more power than his own, only then he unleashes his War Form, which is that of 1km tall demon with wings that stretch to the horizon, able to blow of cities when they move. Even at his War Form, Alvarech's Pride does not allow his appearance to become that of a corrupted visage, though terrible and awe-striking, Alvarech is considered to be a Demon resembling in many aspects a Dark Angel.

His behavior is that of a Proud warrior, honoring to the letter the commands of the Pure One. His words are few, keeping silence as a valuable treasure, speaking in grace only when times demanded him to. The need of respect towards his figure, is earned by both allies and foes, via battle or politics, both of which he excels. The style of politics he uses is that of a powerful monarch, who listens and acts to the needs of the time, not the one that pulled the strings of grand schemes. The demons of his Domain, creatures who bear the sin of Pride as well, all winged hunters of the Infernal Skies. His weakness, the Tower of Babel, along with his Darkwing Legion, the two sources of his Pride...

More details about the Nemesis Worlds history, religion, Gods, Eras and the such, will be explained in detail in the upcoming book, the Campaign setting of Nemesis Worlds.

Combined Spellcasting

Combined Spellcasting.
This article was made due to a request of a Mage Blade player. The question was : "How can a spell have multiple spell casters and what is the benefit?" Well actually the answer is quite simple!
Each caster must design the spell, that requires multiple casters. It can be a spell where all casters have the same role, or it can be a spell that each caster takes a specific role (for example casting a different element).

In the case that all the casters cast the same spell, the system goes like this :
-Each spell caster must start casting at the same initiative and the spell is finished when all spell casters are finished.
-The spell has + 1 spell level of the designed spell level.
-The spell has spell power = total spell power of all casters combined.
-The spell remains the same at all other factors.
-The targeting is defined by the head caster who is the one with the greatest Intelligence rating, or the one designated between the casters.

In the case that Each caster has a different role, the system goes like this :
-Each spell caster must start casting at the same initiative and the spell is finished when all spell casters are finished.
-The spell has + 1 spell level of the average designed spell level. Meaning if different spell levels are used for that spell, the final level equals = (total spell levels / number of casters) + 1 spell level.
-The spell has spell power = total spell power of all casters combined. In the case of different elements the final damage output is defined by the element that deals the damage, enhanced by the other elements as bonus damage.
-The spell remains the same at all other factors.
-The targeting is defined by the head caster who is the one with the greatest Intelligence rating, or the one designated between the casters.

The Justicars

The Justicars.
In the society of the Rune Shamans there are ten (10) tribes that hold the secrets of Occult.
  • Runed Tribe Of Mythrenus.
  • Flametongue Tribe Of The West.
  • Sealed Tribe Of The East.
  • Berserk Tribe Of The North.
  • Exorcist Tribe Of The South.
  • Soul Tribe Of Infinity.
  • Arma Tribe Of The Desert.
  • Keepers Tribe Of The Temple.
  • Golden Tribe Of The Cities.
  • Barrier Tribe Of The Tower.
These tribes altogether form the Rune Shamans. These people are considered Red Blooded but their Deep connection with the runes have made their bloodline transform into something more special. As if the power of some Runes is passing through their Veins.
Occult though is not a racial ability, it a secret well kept and protected by their ten (10) judges, protectors and representatives, the Justicars. Each of the 10 Justicars represents one tribe, enforce the rules of the Runic Law and protects the tribes from outsiders and from themselves. The ten (10) Justicars follow the commands of only one man, the High Justicar, who is considered to be the president of all the Rune Shaman tribes.
The Justicars are not considered to be human, because they are not allowed to have personal needs or beliefs. Runic Law is above all and that is why they are considered to be an ideal, the Runic Law itself. Their name, erased and replaced by the number they hold in their round Justicar chamber, the Chamber of Mystics. Their left hand, used to serve justice in the circles of the Rune Shamans, is removed and replaced by a Darksteel arm powered by Arma Machina because only something that cannot yield and is powered by the runes themselves is able to serve justice in the rune tribes. Their right arm is removed and replaced by an arm of Terra, the element that destroys all other elements, which is meant to punish the outsiders who threaten the rune tribes or have stolen the knowledge of the Occult from the Shamans. Their cloth is named Coat Of Arms, a haori that is decorated with the most powerful seals of Occult, designed to protect the Justicar but as well as to serve the rune tribes. The Coat Of Arms has a teleportation circle engraved at it's back along with an advanced elemental circle, which is designed to enable any Rune Shaman to summon the Justicar via a simple Runesending and when the Justicar accepts he arrives to the place that instants to do justice. Their weapon, the Arma Nail, a darksteel Nailgun that is powered by Arma Ascendus able to fire Terra charged darksteel nails with a tremendous force. All Justicars were converted to the Sealed Tribe if the East, so that they can bind any Runebook of the Runic Law breakers and seal all those that needs to be sealed.
The Justicars are well known even beyond the circles of the New Mythrenia because they have managed to protect to this day their tribes and the secrets of the Occult. Even from the might of the Councils.

More details of the Rune Shamans are described in the Nemesis Worlds book.

Samurai

Samurai.

Concept Art for Nemesis Worlds. Artist Σωτήρης Μπάκας (aka Zorel)
During the 3rd era, the families of true samurai skills are down almost to zero. That happened after the creation of the shinobi hidden villages. The services of the samurai were not required because shinobi could do even a wider variety of "jobs" efficiently and silently even more destructively that any samurai would ever imagine...
So the remaining samurai of the 3rd era were corrupted, entitled like mere soldiers and there were no ideals and worthy masters to fight by their Katana. Even worse most of the samurai did not pass down their skills because they have seen the future world, a world where no true samurai existed.
The elders saw the future well, but some of the most strong samurai houses endured all hardships and remained true to their ancestral blood. Their skills have remained flawless and pure, kept original and never copied or taught to no other but the family (or what a clan may name family). Every house follows strict rules from which the source of their skills and power comes from. Power that has no envy to those that use spellcraft technology or occult, or any other way that is not the "way of the sword". Each house has some unique skills only to them and also some abilities.
Before someone chooses to role play one of the last samurai clans he must first understand the way of thinking, style and concept of every one of the clans. So before describing the clans these are the general rules when someone picks a “Samurai" :
Occult, justu, psychic skills, magic and aggressive forms of technology are forbidden flower for the samurai, if they learn or use it, all their abilities fail. If the code of each house is broken twice, the samurai abilities fail. The code referred is the Bushido :

Bushido Code.
The Code of the Samurai.
If one of those rules are broken, all samurai skills fail and are lost. Until the samurai atones.
Can chose up to 7 rules to follow from the 9.

1)Justice (Rectitude / Right Decision).
This is about doing the right thing or making the right decision, not because it's easy, but because it's ethically and morally correct. No matter the outcome or result, one does not lose face if tempering proper justice. This can also be defined as righteousness, justice, morality, honor, or "right conduct". Occasionally, it has been seen it translated as loyalty or patriotism. This is also one of the five tenets of Confucius doctrine.
2)Bravery (Courage).
The capacity one has to confront fear, pain, danger and uncertainty. Also bravery is the capacity one has to act in a right way when facing death or popular opposition.
3)Benevolence.
Beyond "benevolence" word can be also be defined as "charity" or "mercy" depending on context.
The meaning suggests that one should pay alms to the poor, care for those in trouble, and take care of his fellow man (or woman). This is one of the five tenets of Confucius. In fact, it is a subject in which Confucius spent a great deal of time explaining to his disciples. It can also be translated as perfect virtue, selflessness, love for humanity, humaneness, goodness, good will, or simply "love" in the non-romantic form.
4)Respect.
We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy. We treat others with dignity and honor the rules of our family, school and nation. Respect yourself, and others will respect you. This is also one of the five tenets of Confucius. This character can also be translated as propriety, good manners, politeness, rite, worship or an expression of gratitude.
5)Honesty.
Translated as truth, faith, fidelity, sincerity, trust and/or confidence.
6)Honor.
This version of honor is about having or earning the respect of others and about your reputation. It is the status of being worthy of honor.
7)Loyalty (Faithful / Devoted).
It contains the ideas of being faithful, devoted, true, and obedient.
8)Filial Piety.
Some will define this in more common English as "respect for your parents and ancestors". This is a subject deeply emphasized by the ancient philosophy and teachings of Confucius.
9)Wisdom.
The meaning is open to interpretation, and can also mean intellect, knowledge or reason. This character is also one of the five tenets of Confucius. Beyond the title definitions, this also can mean, resourcefulness, or wit.

More details about this prestige class (+more) and of the Nemesis Worlds history, religion, Gods, Eras and the such, will be explained in detail in the upcoming book, the Campaign setting of Nemesis Worlds.
